Workshops and other events focusing on health-related issues dominate the Clutha district community wellness programme this month.
The start was marked with the first event of the month yesterday when Clutha Mayor Juno Hayes led pedallers in the mayoral bike challenge at Naish Park at 1.30pm.
A group of cyclists rode along the Blair Athol Walkway or took a specially made cycle track.
Sport Clutha has other events planned for this month with an active movement for babies session on March 9, while the Clutha Country summer series includes an event at the Tapanui Swimming Pool on March 8, followed by the final event at Kaka Point on March 15.
Schizophrenia Awareness Week will be marked with a healthy drinks stand on March 13, while Drink Water Week, as part of World Kidney Day on March 12, will be staged around the district.
A women's health night will be held at the Roxburgh Medical Centre on March 17, when Dr Janice Sargent will speak on women's health issues, including breast care and cervical screening.
John Marrable from Disability Information Services will speak about available services and how the group can help people with disabilities or health-related issues.
That meeting will be held at Tapanui on March 18.
Another event, to be run over four days towards the end of the month, is a fully funded self-discovery course which organisers say will help participants expand their thinking and reassess their potential.
Other events include seminars staged by Epilepsy Otago in Milton (March 10) and Balclutha (March 16) and a Safe With Age driving course today or March 23.
