Three South Otago men have been charged with drink-driving offences after being breath-tested by police over the last few days.

Acting Senior Sergeant Jane Whitmore, of Balclutha, said a 31-year-old Warepa man was stopped at Stirling last Friday night and processed for driving with a breath-alcohol level of 697mcg.

A 17-year-old Balclutha youth was stopped in central Balclutha early on Sunday and found to be driving with a level of 400mcg.

The limit for drivers under the age of 20 is 150mcg.

A 61-year-old Stirling man, who was caught driving around central Balclutha on Monday morning with a breath-alcohol level of 1116mcg, had his car impounded.

All three men are due to appear in the Balclutha District Court on April 21.
