Two out of hospital

Two Telford Rural Polytechnic equine students, injured in a crash that killed a fellow student, have been discharged from hospital, but two others remain.

The crash, near Telford on the Balclutha-Owaka Highway last Thursday night, killed Miemie Cloete (17) and Or Eliyahu Ben-David (22), an Israeli tourist.

Four other female equine students were hurt in the crash.

It was confirmed yesterday two of the injured, Lauren Duthie (17) and Teegan Greenwood (18), had been discharged from Dunedin Hospital.

Two others, whose names have not been released, remain in hospital.

One is still in a serious condition in the intensive-care unit and the other is progressing favourably in the hospital's high-dependency unit.

Telford staff and students will gather this morning for a memorial service to celebrate the life of Miss Cloete.

The service will be held at the City Impact Church in Balclutha from 11am.
