Gore district ratepayers could be looking at a nearly 3% rates rise next year, and a $3 million upgrade of the Gore District Council's administration buildings is on the books for the next 10 years.
This week, the council released "highlights" of its draft long-term council community plan.
In the coming financial year, the council was looking to increase its rating revenue to just under $14.5 million, with a 2.95% general rate increase district-wide.
Gore Mayor Tracy Hicks said the district was facing an exciting future.
"If the developments on the horizon go ahead, we might need more capacity."
A "rough figure" of $3 million had been allocated for the civic building upgrade, scheduled for 2015, Mr Hicks said.
The council has set an annual rating increase cap of 5% for the next decade.
Gore and Mataura urban ratepayers will also pay an additional $165 per property for their enhanced recycling and rubbish collection wheelie bin service, set to start on July 2.
The new scheme will see a similar operation to that due to start in Clutha tomorrow, in which wheelie bins will be used for both waste and recycling, but collected on alternate weeks.
After the plan has been approved on Tuesday, the draft will be open for public consultation until May 8.
