340 vacancies on offer to Southland jobseekers

A new shop has opened in Invercargill to help fill an estimated 340 job vacancies in Southland.

The Southland Pop Up Job Shop will operate for a week, offering assistance to anyone looking to join the Southland workforce.

The shop is a collaboration between Venture Southland, Southern Directionz Career Consultants and the Southland Chamber of Commerce.

Venture Southland Youth Futures co-ordinator Alison Beckham told Allied Press today visitors to the shop would be surprised by the number and range of jobs available.

''This is an opportunity to just see at a glance all the jobs that are available in Southland this week. . .and we estimate that we’ve probably got about 340 jobs as of today,” she said.

“We’ve got 16 job boards now and we’re updating them as the week goes by. Just this morning I printed off another 27 jobs.”

The shop, at 54 Tay Street, Invercargill, opened on Monday offering free advice on careers, CVs, and ways for job seekers to apply for jobs.

It will remain open until September 9.
