'Embarrassing' glitch fixed

Environment Southland is confident an ''embarrassing'' computer problem which saw information sent to it via its website go missing in the system has been solved.

The problem, caused by an intermittent fault in a computer server, began in February but was discovered only two weeks ago, corporate services director Graham Alsweiler said yesterday.

A check of the system retrieved 67 pieces of information, he said.

They were 10 submissions to the 2014-15 annual plan, 28 submissions to a resource consent application for a new sewerage system at Curio Bay, nine service requests and 20 requests relating to the council's ''Brucie's Buddies'' environmental education programme for children.

Mr Alsweiler said he was confident the council had found all the missing information and steps had been put in place to stop the problem happening again.

While Mr Alsweiler said the problem was ''embarrassing'', he said the council was ''trying to do its very best to make good''.
