Her father, Craig Marshall, said they enjoyed the event.

"We didn’t have much to do today, so this was a good family outing."

More than 60 stalls featured at the winter fete, held at the Gore Town and Country Club.

Organising committee member Trudie South said within its first hour of opening the fete about 300 patrons had come through the doors.

"When we first opened at 10am we had lines of people outside waiting to get in and once they were in they knew exactly what stalls they were after."

The event was a success and it was great to see so many people support small businesses, she said.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
