Police in Invercargill are investigating an unprovoked attack in which an 18-year-old woman sustained injuries to her face and body.
Senior Sergeant Maggie Windle said the attack occurred at Oreti Beach on Wednesday at 11.45pm.
Two females and two males arrived at the beach in a dark grey or black Nissan Skyline saloon and approached the 18-year-old who was with another group.
After a short conversation, the woman was attacked by the two females, Snr Sgt Windle said.
The offenders were described as 16 or 17 years old and European.
One was slim, with straight, blonde, shoulder-length hair, eyebrow and lip piercings. The other was described as solid.
