The golden arches of fast-food chain McDonald's are coming to Gore.
A resource consent application to operate a restaurant and drive-through facility was granted by the Gore District Council on January 23.
McDonald's will be able to build its planned 442sq m outlet on the Main St site occupied by Kelvin House.
Its application said the restaurant and drive-through would be open 24 hours, seven days a week. It would include a cafe, indoor playground, party area, drive-through and stacked car parking.
Up to 40 full-time equivalent staff were expected to be employed. The company hoped construction could start about the middle of the year.
It was expected the business would open before the end the year.
