Of 42 sections that went on sale in a Lake Hawea subdivision on Thursday, 35 sold within a few hours.

Willowridge developer Alan Dippie said yesterday there was a queue of buyers and some had camped overnight to ensure they got an early pick of the sections in stage 8 of the Timsfield development.

Most of the sections were just over 800sqm and on sale for prices between $249,000 and $299,000. At a similar sale in March 2016, Willowridge sold 30 sections in Timsfield in an hour, for prices of $149,000 and $159,000.

Mr Dippie said he expected the remaining seven sections to sell quickly.

It will be 18 months before they are ready to be built on.

Before moving ahead with further developments at Lake Hawea, Mr Dippie intends discussing the capacity of the township’s infrastructure with the Queenstown Lakes District Council.

Questions about the adequacy of the waste water plant have been raised recently by the Lake Hawea Community Association.
