Hundreds of people of all ages converged on the Wanaka Recreation Centre yesterday  for a fun day at the annual Festival of Sport and Recreation organised by the Upper Clutha Sports Community.

Several sports clubs from the area had booths to inform children and adults about what their club had to offer, while games were also available both inside, outside and in the pool for those wishing to give something a go.

Children also had the opportunity to listen to some of Wanaka’s rising sports stars including Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (snowboarding), Holly Wigg (karate), Phoebe Young (cycling), and Meg Harraway (waterskiing), about what they do and how they train.

The event concluded with a dye dash, in which children ran through an obstacle course while having non-toxic dye thrown on them.
