Sunshine and good times at Matariki

Hundreds of people gathered at the Dinosaur Park in Wanaka on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Matariki, or Maori New Year.

This year’s event included workshops, a community hangi, fireworks, a bonfire and cultural and community performances, including this one from pupils of Hawea Flat School.

Clear blue skies and calm conditions meant the celebrations went off without a hitch and were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
