Warbirds over Wanaka has announced there will be an opportunity to fly in two more World War 2 aircraft at the international airshow next year.

General manager Ed Taylor said the 2020 Rides Day line-up will now include a Spitfire and the only airworthy Avro Anson Mk 1 in the world.

The two-seater Spitfire MH367, owned by Aucklander Doug Brooker, was last displayed in Wanaka in 2012 and was flown in North Africa during WW2.

Mr Taylor said he expected it to be "very popular" with Australians as there was no two-seater Spitfire across the Tasman.

He also expected the rides in the restored Avro Anson to sell out quickly.

"This WW2 reconnaissance bomber has been a favourite since debuting in Wanaka in 2014.

"The owner has only recently had this aircraft certified to take joy rides so this will be a first for airshow fans anywhere in the world," he said.

Warbirds over Wanaka takes place over Easter weekend.
