Residents of Lake Hawea township were urged to conserve water yesterday afternoon after an electrical protection device at the Hawea water treatment plant failed.
While the replacement was made, residents received water from the 1000cu m storage reservoir west of State Highway 6.
A replacement sine wave filter was fitted to the plant within two hours and the council announced about 3.10pm the water treatment plant was again operating normally.
The cause of the failure was unknown yesterday
