A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said it responded to the truck crash, in Longbush, about 2.30pm yesterday.
The driver of the truck had managed to get out of the vehicle before crews arrived.
Crews worked alongside PowerNet to secure the scene until the power lines were isolated, the spokesman said.
A police spokesperson said State Highway 1, between Longbush and Kennington near Invercargill, was closed due to the crash.
The road would remain closed while contractors repaired the electrical damage.
Motorists were advised to expect delays, the spokesperson said.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one person with minor injuries was assessed and treated at the scene.
The highway reopened about 10pm after repairs were made to the power pole, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said.
People are asked to drive with care through the area.
