Sergeant Chris Dunbar said police would continue to investigate these incidents.
"If people can report any suspicious activity, whether they think it is big or small, we can make a decision from there," Sgt Dunbar said.
Police needed to know about incidents such as these, he said.
A 25-year-old male was arrested following shoplifting incidents at two Gore businesses on Friday.
He is due to appear in the Gore District Court today.
