Hill City-University came up just short of a national road relay medal on Saturday.
Its senior men’s team finished fourth in the A-grade race in Feilding.
Its time of 3hr 41min 35sec was more than 11min behind winner University of Canterbury, which smashed the course record.
Pakuranga and Wellington Scottish finished second and third respectively.
Hill City-University sent a strong team. Former senior men’s national road champion Oli Chignell spearheaded the line-up and there was plenty of class among Josh Baan, Jacob Priddey, Russell Green, Jared Monk, Oliver O’Sullivan and Logan Slee.
North Harbour Bays won the senior women’s title. No Otago clubs entered that grade.
Caversham claimed Otago’s only win, in the senior men’s C grade race.
