Former Otago Nuggets Steve Robinson and Chris Hepburn heaped on 67 points to help the City Rise Bombers beat the Andy Bay Falcons 110-108 in the premier men's tournament.
The Bombers looked to Robinson and Hepburn to dominate the exchanges on the inside against the smaller Falcons' line-up, and they took a 32-18 lead into the first break.
Robinson scored a game-high 40 points and Hepburn posted 27 points.
The Falcons battled back through Tom Giles (28 points) and Dan Peck (24 points) and took a five-point lead into the final period.
The Bombers turned up the defensive pressure and closed out the tight match, although the Falcons had an opportunity to secure the win in the dying moment but the shot rimmed out.
Former Otago Nugget Matt Gillan scored 29 points, including seven three-pointers, to help the St Kilda Saints to a comfortable 91-73 win over the Magic 2.
Gillan had some good support from Ian Cathcart (16 points) and James Ross (15).
Lee Devereux led the scoring for the Magic with 19 points.
In the other match, Magic 1 dispatched Varsity Blaze 94-56.
Hayden Miller top-scored with 27 points, while Anthony Jones posted 11 for the Blaze.
