Kirk Penney will return to the New Zealand Breakers on a three year deal the New Zealand Herald reported.

The Kiwi guard first played for the Breakers in 2007 and helped them to their first title in 2011, while being named NBL MVP in 2009. He returns home after spending time in Europe, before playing for the Illawarra Hawks last season.

Penney is known as a prolific scorer who shoots the ball well from mid-long range. At 35 years old he is in the latter stages of his career, but brings a wealth of experience and a skill set that allows him to remain effective.

His impressive CV includes appearances for the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA, along with top European clubs Maccabi Tel Aviv, Zalgiris Kaunas and ALBA Berlin.

More recently he was a two-time All-Star in the Turkish Basketball League, while being crowned the three-point shootout champion of the same league twice.
