"We lost last year but I have packed in a lot of hard work at the Dunedin Bowls Stadium and want to get a result," Scott said.
Scott (33) will skip the New Zealand triples and fours and knows a top performance will push her closer to the Black Jacks squad.
The development team is coached by Evan Roberts who played a key role in helping the Dunedin woman win the New Zealand title for bowlers with only eight years’ experience.
Scott and Gore’s Sheldon Bagrie-Howley are the only team members from the south in the five women and five men’s development team.
Crawford in NZ team
Carolyn Crawford, who won a gold medal in B8 singles at the Disabled World Bowls championships in Wellington in 2015, is the only Otago member of the five strong New Zealand Para-sport team.
Graham Skellern (Tauranga), will make his international debut in the Para-Sport event in the B7 grade.
The Para-sports team will join the Black Jacks and compete in the Trans Tasman series and the Eight Nations competition.
Bowlers in the Para-Sports team and the Black Jacks will be competing for spots in the New Zealand team for the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in April 2018.
Former Dunedin bowler Paul Girdler (52), the bowls manager at Tweed Heads in New South Wales, and Tony Grantham have been added to the five players that won the Leonard Trophy teams event at World Bowls in Christchurch last year.
A second Trans Tasman series will be held on the Gold Coast in November.
Cooper representing Canada
Dunedin student Joanna Cooper will be competing for Canada in the Eight Nations event on the Gold Coast.
Cooper (33), a fourth-year bowler, is studying for a PhD in geology at the University of Otago and splits her time between Dunedin and Canada.
She plays for the North East Valley club with her partner Pat Bird when she is in Dunedin. Bird is the Canadian singles champion.Cooper teamed with Barbara Archer to win the Dunedin Stadium pairs final when they beat Noreen Paul and Doreen Fraser 13-8 this week.
They will compete together in the pairs at the Australian open championships at the Broadbeach club in Queensland after the Eight Nations event.
Preddy betters brother
Alanna Preddy (23) went one better than her brother, Stephen, when she became the youngest South Otago indoor bowler to win five titles as well as her gold star.
Preddy was in the Paretai team with her mother, Shona, and Jaime McElrea when it beat David Fenton, Christine King and Colleen Fenton (Waitepeka) 10-7 in the final of the South Otago open triples.
Robert Wilson (Clutha RSA) won his 24th South Otago title when he beat Colleen Fenton (Waitepeka) 16-6 in the open singles final. Lily Paterson (15) showed promise when reaching the quarterfinals.
The Lawrence husband and wife team of Eileen and David Grant qualified for the regional finals of the mixed pairs when they beat Barry Gray and Shona Preddy 11-6. It was Eileen’s 25th centre title and David’s 15th.
Owaka beat Balclutha by 14.5 ends on countback of ends when they were level on points in the Super 6s.
Robert Wilson (Balclutha) topped the individual table with five wins and was followed by Alex Benington (Lawrence), Stuart Wightman (Balclutha), Alanna Preddy and Colleen Fenton (Owaka) with four wins and a draw.
Twelve year-old Kurt Botting (Paretai) teamed with David Fenton (Waitepeka) to win the senior-junior pairs with 65 points from Lily Paterson (South Otago Town & Country Club) and Colleen Fenton (Waitepeka) 56 points.
First win for Otago
Otago (Dunedin) won its first representative match of the season when it beat South Otago by 137 points to 87 at Balclutha.
The best performed Otago bowlers were Kristen Gould and Bob Cowan with six wins.
They were followed by Peter Cabral, Daphne Lamb, Daniel Sinclair, Mike Harte and Brandon Williams with five wins.
Otago will be tested this weekend when it meets Canterbury at the Dunedin indoor bowls rink.
This year the Otago singles, pairs, triples and fours are open to bowlers from other centres.
Bosman wins 14th title
Hugh Bosman (Hillhead) won his 14th Otago title when he beat David Webb (Wakari) 10-7 in the singles. Lyn Rance (Green Island) was the top woman.
The Wakari team of Brandon Williams, Adam Williams and John Williams beat Chris Moffitt, Alana Preddy and Kevin Brosnan 11-4 in the triples final. It was the sixth centre title for Brandon and John Williams and the first for Adam Williams.
New Zealand representative Daniel French skipped the winning composite team of David Webb, Lyn Rance and Jenny Cowan that beat Barry Cadogan, Bob Cowan, Marilyn Holmes and Shirley Ruthven (Momona) 12-6 to qualify for the mixed fours regional final at Dunedin on July 1.
Rance also reached the regional final of the mixed pairs with Max Grey.
The Momona team of Keith Ruthven, Colin Gilmore, Fay Taylor, Michelle Cadogan won the annual Festival Fours that was shifted from February to April this year.
Trophy for Eveline
The Eveline team of Gordon Robb, Nicky Shiferaw, Jack McNamara and Emma Robb won the Skipperdale Trophy when it beat Mike Howard, Vic Randall, Graham Larcombe and John Brice 9-3 in the North Otago fours.
Mike Howard, Sue Jones, Graham Larcombe and Rhonda Lockerbie qualified for the regional finals of the New Zealand mixed fours when they beat Gordon Robb, Stefan Robb, Emma Robb and Diana McGregor 11-6.Stefan Robb, Cliff Ormandy and Emma Robb beat Vic Randall, Rhonda Lockerbie and Marie Guthrie in the final of the Don Grant triples.

Brunei post for Murtagh
Former Bowls New Zealand’s director of coaching and national coach John Murtagh was appointed the inaugural national coach for the new bowls nation of Brunei Darussalam in 2001.
He established structure for the sport and Brunei competed at World Bowls in Christchurch last year.
Dunedin’s Terry Scott will follow in Murtagh’s assignment as the new national coach of Canada at the Eight Nations event on the Gold Coast next week.
