Indoor bowls: North Island too accurate

The touring North Island team showed better all-round accuracy to beat a combined Otago-Central Otago team in Dunedin on Thursday night.

A 36-12 scoreline reflected the sharper efforts of the touring side.

Outstanding performances for the North Island came from Teri Anderson (women's singles), Grant L'Ami and Mike Phipps (men's pairs), and Paul Wright, Grant Harvey and Jason Packer (men's triples), all of whom had three wins.

Fiona Wilson, Sharon Peters and Maureen Pruden (women's triples) had two wins and a draw.

The star of the Otago side was Daniel French, who won two of his three games against Paul Smith (Tauranga) in the men's singles.

Reay Allen, Ev Bisset, Janice Wood and Theresa Gallagher had a win and a draw in the women's fours.

Otago bowlers French, Marylin Holmes, Anne Cottrell and Daniel Sinclair will play for the South Island against the North Island this weekend.
