Big win, loss for St Hilda's

St Hilda's Collegiate experienced both extremes at the national secondary schools limited-overs tournament in Christchurch yesterday.

The school recorded a whopping 10-wicket in the morning after dismissing Wairarapa College for just 29.

Molly Loe took four for five from her four overs and the chase was rather brief.

Opener Olivia Gain swatted an undefeated run-a-ball 22 to carry her side to victory with almost 13 overs remaining in the twenty20 fixture.

But the afternoon match against Epsom Girls proved a damper.

The Auckland school was restricted to 93 for eight but St Hilda's struggled to keep pace with the run rate.

It limped to 69 for six from its 20 overs and lost by 24 runs.

King's High School was well-beaten by Hamilton Boys' High School in its early game.

King's posted 159, a modest total which its opponent overrun in 18 overs with eight wickets in hand.
