Otago swing bowler Emma Black’s wonderful season has been recognised at the top level.

The 22-year-old right-armer has been named women’s domestic player of the year and collected the Phyl Blackler Cup for women’s domestic bowling following a sterling run in both the T20 and list A campaigns.

Black (24 wickets at 11.58) was the leading wicket-taker in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield and also snared 13 wickets in the Super Smash.

She played a key role the Sparks’ title run in the HBJ and her performances were rewarded with selection in the women’s New Zealand A squad.

Otago team-mate Suzie Bates won the women’s domestic batting award off the back of a steady season in which she notched 530 runs across both formats.

Rachin Ravindra and Melie Kerr were the biggest winners at the New Zealand Cricket Awards last night.

Ravindra, 24, was awarded the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal for outstanding male cricketer, and Kerr won just about everything else.

The talented all-rounder carried off the coveted Debbie Hockley Medal for the most outstanding female cricketer for the second year running.

She also scooped the ODI and T20I player of the year and the Super Smash women’s player of the year.

Ravindra shone at the World Cup in India, notching three centuries and two half-centuries. He also posted New Zealand’s highest maiden test century of 240.

Kane Williamson was named test player of the year and also won the Redpath Cup for first-class batting.

He became just the fifth New Zealand player to score a century in both innings of a test with 118 and 109 in the second test against South Africa at Bay Oval.

Williamson was also selected in the ICC’s test team of the year.

Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner claimed the ODI and T20I awards, respectively.

Matt Henry’s outstanding summer with the red ball was rewarded with the Winsor Cup for men’s first-class bowling.

He took 23 wickets at an average of 16 during the qualification period, which included a haul of seven for 67 against Australia at Hagley Oval.

Former Otago player Nathan Smith was awarded the men’s domestic player of the year after a memorable summer for Wellington.

Auckland bowler Danru Ferns was awarded Super Smash men’s player of the year after a consistent campaign which helped the Aces win their first T20 title since 2016.

Chris Brown was named umpire of the year for the second year running.

The Bert Sutcliffe Medal for outstanding service to cricket was awarded to long-time administrator Trudy Anderson.

She was responsible for cricket operations at Canterbury Cricket for 21 years and played important roles in various World Cups.

In the community awards, North East Valley chairman Bryan Johnston was awarded the outstanding contribution award for his long service to the club.

He joined the club as a player in 1967 and has served on the management committee since 1973-74.
