The duo have been included in the New Zealand 12 for the one-off test against Zimbabwe.
Black Caps bowling coach Damien Wright says Wellington pace bowler Andy McKay is the unlucky player to miss out.
Wright says McKay got a bit of a stomach bug a couple of days ago and hasn't quite got over it.
Dean Brownlie is also in line to make his test debut.
Wright says the 21-year-old Bracewell is an exciting prospect for New Zealand cricket.
He says Bracewell has everything he needs to be very successful.
Captain Ross Taylor and coach John Wright are weighing up whether to include Jeetan Patel or another batsman in their XI and will make a final decision on the side shortly before the toss.
