Green Island 231 all out beat North East Valley 170 all out by 61 runs

Green Island was a convincing winner over North East Valley on its home patch at Sunnyvale on Saturday.

Club play switched to the one-day format after twenty20 games had started the season.

Batting first, Green Island made 231, dismissed by the penultimate ball of the innings.

The Green Island innings was based around a century by Gregor Croudis.

He came to the crease in the 14th over and batted well to get through to 113 before being dismissed in the final over.

The outfield was lush at Sunnyvale but Croudis found the middle of the bat and formed a good partnership with Joel Meade.

The side did not go mad with the run rate but just kept the score ticking over.

North East Valley did not fire with the bat and was struggling to stay with the run rate.

There was a solid partnership between Tom Griffin and Thorn Parker in the middle order but the side kept losing wickets and was all out in the 44th over.

Ethan Child bowled well for the home team at the start of the innings, while the rest of the wickets were shared around.

It was a good win for Green Island, as it had struggled in the twenty20 competition.

Kaikorai 219 for seven beat Carisbrook-Dunedin 115 by 104 runs.

Otago Volt Michael Rippon had a marked impact in Kaikorai's big win over Carisbrook-Dunedin at Tonga Park.

Volts players turned out for club sides though Otago A players had gone to Rangiora to take on Canterbury A and were unavailable.

Rippon helped Kaikorai through to 219 for seven off its 50 overs, as the Kaikorai middle order showed some real steel.

Rippon ended up with 81.

It was a patient knock and he teamed up with Taine Bailey to give the Kaikorai side some impetus in the middle stages.

Will O'Brien was economical in his 10 overs.

The home team failed to get anything going with the bat.

Hudson James-Everton scored a few runs at the top of the order and Dean Foxcroft also looked handy in the short time he was at the crease.

But it all unravelled for the Carisbrook-Dunedin side, which lost its final six wickets for 47 runs.

Rippon took three wickets and leg spinner Thomas Leggat did the damage with a five-wicket bag. Back playing after taking a break, the university student from Auckland, was a real handful. He mopped up the tail, sealing the win with some clever bowling and he has impressed since joining the senior ranks.

Taieri 272 for seven wickets beat Albion 211 all out by 61 runs.

A solid batting performance from Taieri led the side to a convincing win over Albion at Culling Park.

Batting first, Taieri amassed 272 for seven in its 50 overs. The hefty total was down to a 127-run second-wicket partnership between Harsh Visavadiya and Dale Phillips.

The two batsmen had the side nearly at 200 when Visavadiya departed in the 37th over. He almost made a century and Phillips came up short, too, of the ton.

Volt Matt Bacon secured two wickets for the Albion side.

In reply, opening batsman Dominic Crombie scored 74 and shared a 67-run opening partnership with Dan Duke. But the home team could get nothing from its middle order and tail and was out in the third ball of the 45th over.

Regan Flaws took four wickets for Taieri.
