Otago legspinner Michael Rippon has been named in the Netherlands one-day squad for a two-match one-day international series against Nepal at Lord's early next month.

The South African-born 26-year-old, who missed the Netherlands' World Cup qualifier campaign due to his commitments with the Volts, will be a valuable addition to the side.

The left-armer did not have a lot of success in the one-day tournament for Otago last summer but he took 19 wickets at an average of 25.52 in five first-class games for the province. He is also a very handy batsman, who can move up and down the order depending on what is required.

Rippon played the last of his four ODIs for the Dutch in January 2014. He has also played 17 twenty20 internationals for the Netherlands.

Former Otago star import Ryan ten Doeschate is tied up with county commitments and is unavailable for the Dutch.

The Netherlands also named a 13-man squad for a T20 triangular series involving the Marylebone Cricket Club and Nepal but Rippon was not included in that squad.

The ODIs against Nepal will mark Nepal's entry into the format at international level.
