Spinner Perera propels NEV to win in opening T20

North East Valley started the T20 campaign with a healthy win against Albion at Logan Park on Thursday night.

Former Auckland left-arm spinner Nikith Perera continues to press for a spot in the Volts. He took four for 11 to help roll Albion for just 73 in 13.3 overs.

Hunter Kindley and Andrew Sheridan picked up a brace of wickets each.

Openers Joshua Olliver (20) and Quinn Sunde (12) put on 29 for the opening wicket but the innings dissolved rapidly.

Sebastian Lauderdale-Smith swatted an undefeated 44 from 30 balls to guide the Swans to a seven-wicket win.

Carisbrook-Dunedin-Kaikorai dismissed University-Grange for 69 at Tonga Park.

Thomas O’Connor and Harry Sixton teamed up to rout the top order.

University-Grange slumped to five for four, so 69 actually represented a recovery of sorts.

O’Connor nabbed three for 15 and Sixton took two for three.

Otago top order batter Jamal Todd smashed 44 not out from 14 balls to help secure a 10-wicket win with more than 15 overs remaining.

The game between Green Island and Taieri has been deferred until December 13 as Sunnyvale was drenched and no other suitable grass wickets were available.
