Dunedin rider Brad Evans has left South Korea with a prized possession - his first professional tour stage victory.

Evans shared the spoils in stage seven on the Tour de Korea on Saturday, finishing in a tie with British rider Kristian House after 145km from Chunghu to Seoul.

Evans was in a breakaway that formed after 15km and lasted 130km to the finish.

"It was a tough hilly day, but I made it into the move and had good legs throughout despite being day seven of a hard tour,'' Evans said.

Riding for his team, Drapac Professional Cycling, Evans bided his time during the tactical moves in the breakaway, before it came down to a sprint in the closing stages.

Evans was actually awarded the win initially, before the result was changed to a tie after the finish judges could not find a margin between Evans and House.

"It wasn't perfect, but I am super happy to get my first professional victory,'' he said. "It was nice to get an opportunity to break away today and I certainly made the most of it.''

Evans has been the lead-out rider for Drapac team-mate Brenton Jones, who won the 85.8km stage four in Daejeon and the final 65km stage in Seoul and recorded two other podium finishes.

Drapac finished the tour in third place in the team classification, and Evans finished 24th overall, 6min 44sec behind overall winner Nippo-Vini Fantini rider Grega Bole, of Slovenia.
