When Christina Padman took the time to fill out an online competition entry, she had no idea it would end in France.

Instead of being bombarded with spam, the 23-year-old trainee pharmacy technician got a phone call and some good news.

"A lady rang me about an hour before I finished work and told me she was from Rabobank and I'd won second prize," Padman said.

If you are thinking, 'Oh, second prize. Probably a frozen chicken or something of similar nominal value, right?' you could not be more wrong.

"When she said it was a trip for two to France I was like, 'Oh my goodness'. I couldn't believe it."

Padman had won a trip to watch the final two stages of the Tour de France. It was a dream come true for the keen cyclist.

The prize includes five nights accommodation and, when the Tour rolls into Paris in late July, Padman will probably be sipping Champagne with her mother in the Rabobank VIP tent on the Champs-Elysees.

Her father, Craig Padman, a former New Zealand veteran road champion, will also be in France for the Tour but her two younger brothers will have to be content to watch it on television.

The RaboPlus competition ran for about a month in conjunction with BikeNZ's Ridestrong online community.
