Australian international McKain, 27, who recently extended his contract with the Phoenix by two years, has been linked with a $1.5 million shift to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
The reports said Al Nassr coach Walter Zenga, a former Italy international goalkeeper, scouted McKain when he was in Romania with National Bucharest and Politehnica Timisoara several seasons ago.
McKain, who has been capped 12 times by the Socceroos but wasn't named in their World Cup squad, has been a key peformer for the Phoenix, mostly playing alongside captain Andrew Durante in the central defence.
The Phoenix would receive a sizeable transfer fee if they allowed McKain to break his contract early.
