In-form club Green Island will travel to Queenstown Rovers today in a key split-six match-up, the Sunnyvale side needing at least a point to keep on track for its aim of fifth place.
A last-round home win over Northern in the Footballsouth Premier League would realise a successful season for Green Island coaches Warren Robinson and Malcolm Fleming after the club's recent placings at the lower end of the table.
Green Island will be without the services of Cody Robinson and Dan Rutter, who were both sent off in their last outing, but will welcome back the striking duo of Ryan Atherton and Luke Macris.
The Queenstown side is coming off a 5-0 loss to the Southland Spirit and will welcome a home match at the Events Centre, where its technically gifted players can express themselves on a quality surface.
League leader Dunedin Technical will make the short trip to Ellis Park to play Roslyn Wakari, looking to increase its three-point lead over second-placed Caversham.
A rebuilding Roslyn-Wakari will need a good start and solid all-round game to match up with Technical, which will have central defender Blair Scoullar back from suspension.
Caversham travels to Memorial Park for its fixture with Mosgiel, which will still be smarting from a 10-1 thrashing from Technical in its last outing, after being reduced to 10 men for most of the game.
Caversham coach Steve Fleming was eager for his squad to fully focus on the match, which is followed next weekend by a Chatham Cup quarterfinal.
"We can only play what's in front of us on the day. Future fixtures can't distract our attention."
In other FPL games, University plays Grants Braes at the Caledonian Ground, while Northern travels to Invercargill to play Southland at Surrey Park.
