Riera's lack of first-team action boiled over into critical remarks about coach Rafa Benitez, who promptly left the former Spain international out of the lineup.
But Riera has told sports daily Marca: "I want to continue my career at Liverpool, which is one of the best clubs in the world."
Riera, who is looking for more playing time as he bids to make Spain's World Cup squad, says his future will probably be decided in the summer.
He says there has been no progress in negotiations about a possible move to Spartak.
