The Otago selectors have rewarded the quintet which won the SBS interprovincial strokeplay championship at Otatara in Invercargill during the weekend and retained the same five for the Toro match play event on the same course on December 1-5.
Convener Greg Johnson and his panel have used the same template for the match play order which helped Otago make the final at St Andrews in Hamilton last year.
Playing in his last tournament, Brent McEwan will play at the No3 position which he opted for last year after leading the team at No1 for more than a decade.
McEwan finished with seven wins from eight outings last year and the selectors are keen to see a repeat performance this year.
Last year, Mark Brooks played at the No5 position which is crucial to the team's success, as those players are always the first out on the course.
Brooks had six wins, a half and one loss but was lost to Otago golf when he took up a green-keeping position at Royal Melbourne in Australia.
This year's Otago match play champion, Chris Snow, will fill the bill as the former Zingari premier rugby forward is a dogged competitor in the same mould as Brooks.
The top two have been placed on their SBS stroke play scores, with Duncan Croudis at No1 and Nick Borren at No2.
Last year's No2 was James Anstiss, but he will be sitting exams in the United States while his former team-mates fight it out.
Former Wellington No 2 Fraser MacLachlan will replace Anstiss but will play at No4 and will be the second player to start in each match.
It has been a most successful year for Otago golf. Last weekend's SBS win followed the win in the Junior Interprovincial at Cambridge in October.
Otago won the Freyberg Rosebowl (now Toro) in 1973, at Russley, 1978 in Taupo and 1982 at Balmacewen.
Last weekend the team broke a 35-year SBS drought and now the attention will turn to bringing a 33-year Toro drought to an end.
McEwan's last SBS spurred on the team last weekend and that is likely to happen in two weeks' time, when one of Otago's most successful golfers bows out of all representative golf.
The Otago players have a liking for Otatara and the team has a good draw.
