Kings United Men see off Albany Alligators in men’s competition

The Kings United Men continue to state their claim for second position on the Dunedin club competition ladder following their 3-2 win over challengers Albany Alligators.

The Alligators put up a challenge, but it was not enough to overcome Kings.

Daniel Torr twice was in the right place at the right time for Kings, finding the back of the net past Felix McIntosh in goal for the Alligators.

Craig Turner scored the other goal for Kings men.

Rico Gamble converted a penalty corner for the Albany Alligators and Josh Paku scored from the field for them.

Despite their best efforts they could not draw level to force a shootout.

The University Panthers fought hard to secure the win against visitors Tainui in their 3-2 victory in a competitive game.

Tainui had numerous chances early in the match but were unable to make them count.

Tainui got the upper hand in the second quarter when Jacob Smith found the back of the net off his reverse.

The Panthers came back at them in the third, scoring through Tyler Williams, leaving it all to play for in the fourth quarter.

The Panther scored twice more through Samuel Harrison-Barker and Franco Laroche.

Despite Jacob Smith scoring again it was not to be for Tainui.

The University Whales could not compete with the Taieri Tuataras, losing 5-2 to the competition favourites.

James Nicolson made himself at home in the attacking circle, scoring three of the Tuataras goals.

Solomon Baldock and Matthew West scored the other two goals.

Josh Wypych and Jakob Bell-Kake were the Whales goal-scorers.

Momona women displayed some finals form as they dealt to the Kings United Women in their 4-0 win.

Momona dominated the from the start, providing Kings women with very few opportunities to get themselves back into the game.

Louisa Kotkamp opened the scoring for Momona off of an attacking penalty corner.

The attacking prowess continued as Millie White deflected another penalty corner to go in front by two goals in the first quarter.

Frances Dougherty tided up another one of Momona’s attacking penalty corners following a missed deflection.

The Kings women had their chances but were unable to get the ball past the Momona defence and into the goal.

Madi Pont added to the Momona scoreline with less than 20sec to go, making it 4-0.

The City Highlanders demolished the University Stingrays 6-0.

The Stingrays could not find any rhythm and the Highlanders put their defence under the pump. Chloe Donaldson and Billie Crowe found the back of the net twice for the Highlanders.

Maddie Peel and Morgan Forrester were their other goal scorers.

The University Huskies were unable to seal the deal against the Taieri Tigers, losing in the shootout.

Holly Riddick scored the Huskies’ only goal, while Meila Eades scored for the Tigers.

Alisha Horne had an outstanding performance in goal for the Tigers, denying the Huskies an opportunity to steal the win.
