Netball Otago recorded a small loss of $5516 for the financial year ending on October 31, 2011.
The organisation remains in the black with a positive balance of $44,931.
Chairwoman Adrienne Ensor said the year's loss was mainly due to the reduction in commercial sponsorship.
"While disappointed with a loss many sporting organisations would be proud of the financial results we have achieved in very challenging times," she wrote in the annual report.
"In 2012, funding will continue to be our biggest challenge but we have endeavoured to keep fee increases to a minimum and we are committed to ensuring that our stakeholders continue to see value for their fees."
Total revenue was down from $272,210 in the previous financial year to $209,739 - a fall of almost 23%.
Total expenses dropped from $260,070 to $221,534 during the corresponding period.
