Sheryl Scanlanhas won a world championship, Commonwealth Games medals and national titles.
Now it is time for the Steel defender to focus on new challenges.
Scanlan (34) has announced her retirement, and is planning a shift to Brisbane with husband Malcolm and 6-year-old son Jafeth.
"I'm excited and sad at the same time. I'm sad to leave Invercargill but really excited to see what the future holds," Scanlan said.
The former Silver Fern ventured south from Auckland in 2009 to take up a contract with the Steel.
While injuries have marred the later stages of her career, she has enjoyed her time representing the region.
"I've been blessed to be involved with the Steel franchise.
I thought we would only come down here for a year but it turned into four very enjoyable ones.
"I'm really going to miss the community. The people down here have just been so friendly, warm and welcoming to us and just so accepting."
Although Scanlan's 2012 campaign started well, injury forced her to the sideline last month and she is now preparing to have surgery on a ruptured tendon in her left foot.
She will miss tonight's season-ending game against the Vixens in Invercargill.
"You always want to end your career on a high note but unfortunately, given the demands of elite sport, that is not always an option. It is definitely tough to go out from the bench."
It should not detract from an elite career which has spanned more than 15 years.
Scanlan burst on to the scene as a talented teenager and was quickly propelled through the ranks, earning selection for the Silver Ferns team which toured the UK in 1998.
She was selected again in 2000 and remained an integral member of the national team until 2009.
