And if they checked the team list, there are a couple of other family members to add to the list for good measure.
Year 10 twins Chelsea and Tessa Laughton, 15, are lapping up their first senior netball tournament, hitting the court alongside older sister Allie, 17, at the South Island secondary schools tournament at the Edgar Centre this week.
The family affair does not stop there.
Their mother, Vicky, who played representative rugby and netball for North Otago, is the St Kevin’s team manager, while father, Regan, a former No8 for North Otago, sponsors the team.
The sisters, who hail from the Hakataramea Valley and board at the Oamaru school, played together growing up at Waitaki Valley School and enjoy being back together.
"They fit into the team quite nicely — you wouldn’t even tell that they’re year 10s," Allie said about her younger sisters.
She was enjoying the week and looked forward to seeing how far they had come as a team in A grade when the tournament wrapped up today.
It was special for the trio to play together, especially considering Chelsea had cancer growing up.
Chelsea went through six months of chemotherapy as a 5-year-old after having a Wilms tumour, which required one of her kidneys to be removed.
"It is quite cool that she has recovered well enough to play high-quality sport," Vicky said.
She loved seeing her daughters getting the chance to play together and flourish on the court.
"It’s good them all being in the same team. It means we’re not spread halfway across the country. It’s nice to see them developing."
The tournament has reached the crunch stage.
Dunedin sides St Hilda’s Collegiate and Columba College have made it to the A-grade top four and will compete for a spot in today’s final in their respective semifinals this morning.
St Hilda’s, who had strong wins over Cashmere 35-19 and St Andrew’s 37-26 yesterday, will meet defending champions St Margaret’s College in their semifinal.
St Margaret’s have looked strong all week and come in on the back of wins against Christchurch Girls’ 38-24 and Marian College 50-17 on day three.
Columba will face Nayland College in their semifinal. They swept past Dunstan 39-23 and Kaiapoi 43-25 yesterday and Nayland College beat Waitaki Girls’ 51-31 and Rolleston 40-22.
