It is almost hard to believe the 19-year-old did not have an ANZ Premiership contract until the week the competition began.
Initially a training partner with the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic, Elliott has gone from strength to strength since being called in to replace the injured Malysha Kelly.
The rookie has worked her way into the starting goal keep bib and is having more influence in every game she plays.
That was at its most evident during Monday's 59-56 win over the Mainland Tactix in Invercargill.
She came up with several big turnovers, while also forcing the much bigger Ellie Bird into several key misses.
That improvement comes with experience, although Elliott's progression has been particularly rapid.
''Definitely,'' she said when asked if she was feeling more comfortable on court.
''I've learnt a lot in my time down here.
''The girls have taught me a lot and also the coaching, so just developing my game really.''
She has plenty of experience around her and has formed a strong partnership with the in-form Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit in the defensive circle.
It is a duo that is clearly clicking on the court, although Elliott said it was also working well off the court.
''It's awesome. She's really crack-up and she's a really knowledgeable player. I love her; she's awesome.
''I've learnt so much off her and she helps you understand that game a lot more.''
Elliott was stoked to claim the victory on Monday, securing a playoff spot and leaving the Steel in the box seat for a home preliminary final.
Her team had been keeping on her, yelling at her to keep doing more.
She said that was good as she enjoyed being constantly challenged.
It was a welcome return to the court after she left last Monday's game against the Magic early with a tight calf.
She had managed that through training last week and it had pulled together and she forgot about it when she stepped on court.
Two games remain before the playoffs - each of the next two Sundays - and Elliott is excited.
Making the playoffs is a great opportunity in her first season, while having the chance to defend the title the team won last year left her ''speechless''.
It will probably have to go through the Central Pulse to do that, although she is confident the team has it in it to get the job done.
''I think we can. We've got all the potential.
''Awesome players and we've definitely got the drive and the desire to take it out, so that's always been the goal.''
