The franchise has announced the midcourter has re-signed for the 2026 ANZ Premiership season.
Poi is the first signing for the season, and it is a coup to keep the Silver Fern with the Steel.
After seven seasons with the Mainland Tactix — including several as captain — Poi took a punt on joining the Steel in 2025.
She was massive in the midcourt for the Steel as they finished fourth with a 5-5 record.
It will be happy news for southern fans, after fellow Silver Fern and co-captain Kate Heffernan confirmed she would not be returning to the team.
Heffernan has been granted an exemption by Netball New Zealand to play for the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Australia next season.
Australian defender Dakota Thomas will not return to the Steel. She never took the court after carrying an injury all year.
Poi is in for a big couple of months with the Silver Ferns, playing South Africa and Australia then heading to the northern hemisphere to play Scotland and England.
Central Pulse shooter Tiana Metuarau has also found a new home in England.
The former Silver Fern, who played one season for the Steel, has signed with the Birmingham Panthers in the Vitality Netball League for 2026. She made herself unavailable for the Silver Ferns this year.
Saviour Tui, Ali Wilshier, Erena Mikaere, Oceane Maihi and Georgie Edgecombe have all re-signed with the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic.
