There was a minor upset in the clash of the University-Albion teams in the third round of the Dunedin premier competition on Saturday.
The club’s B team beat the A team 41-37.
Uni-Albion B were behind 16-13 at the first break and it was a close game from there.
The B team pulled ahead 25-22 at halftime.
Neve Beattie dominated the shooting circle, landing 14 of her 15 attempts at goal to run at an excellent 93.3% as she did her best to get the A team back on track.
Annie Racklyeft landed some big shots for the B team.
The Uni-Albion A defence combination of Emilie Nicholson (GD) and Sovaia Sabutu (GK) were on point in the circle, putting pressure on Racklyeft and Madeleine Bailey (GA).
Uni-Albion B were just ahead, 34-32, at the three-quarter break.
The midcourt combination of Charlotte O’Reilly (WA) and Sophie Fulton (C) were accurate with their feeds into the Uni-Albion B shooters, ensuring any turnovers were converted.
Goal attack Bailey was calm and collected in the shooting circle and shot 73.9% for Uni-Albion B.
In the other games, Physed A dominated Physed B to win 74-31, and College A beat Southern Magpies 55-45.
Club netball now takes a break with university holidays over the next two weeks.
Round four will start on May 3, and the first round of promotion-relegation is on May 12.
