It has been a good day for New Zealand at the Rio Olympics, claiming a gold and two silver medals.
Hamish Bond and Eric Murray were, predictably, dominant in defending their men's pair title in the rowing.
A few hours later Luuka Jones claimed silver in the canoe slalom, before the men's team sprint were pipped by one-tenth of a second by Great Britain in the cycling.
Fiji made history in the sevens, putting on a masterclass of offloading and support-play to beat Great Britain 43-7 in the men's final. It was their first ever Olympic medal. South Africa beat Japan 54-14 to win bronze.
New Zealand, meanwhile, restored some credibility by beating Argentina 17-14 to claim fifth place.
Kiwi swimming hope Lauren Boyle narrowly missed qualifying for the final of the 800m freestyle, although later confirmed she had been hampered by a hip injury.
Michael Phelps claimed his 22nd gold medal in the 200m individual medley.
