Australian experience for Otago youngsters

Sydney's diamonds await four of Otago's most promising softball youngsters.

Josh Jones, Corbin Tuwairua, Arana Kelly and Josh Forrester have been selected to travel to Australia with the New Zealand International Softball Academy tour.

All Cardinals players, they have been selected after their performances with the Otago under-15 side at the national championships in January.

The 13-year-old duo of Jones and Tuwairua left for Sydney yesterday and will play in the under-14 boys squad.

They will stay for a week, which will feature training and games against various Australian opposition.

Forrester (15) and Kelly (14) will head to Sydney in October with the under-15/16 squad.

Their trip will also be for a week and includes training and games. The boys will be exposed to high quality coaching from ex-Black Sox players.
