Xavier Peyroux responded for Otago Boys’ just before halftime. But Luke Spargo effectively clinched the win with his goal late in the third quarter.
Jacob Robinson cut the deficit with a goal in the last minute of the game.
At the South Island secondary schools netball tournament in Invercargill, Otago Girls’ beat Marlborough Girls’ 44-31 and Cromwell College 47-17 to keep their unbeaten record intact.
Southland Girls’ had a tougher day. They battled to a 37-37 draw with Villa Maria in the morning and lost 43-24 to another Christchurch school, St Margaret’s, in the afternoon.
St Hilda’s Collegiate dispatched Rangi Ruru 35-21 in the morning, and Columba rolled St Kevin’s 56-20 in their early game.
