Neo Salomonsson continues to make a name for himself.

The young Kiwi club swimmer broke a national age group record with his dazzling swim of 55.75sec in the 100m butterfly at the Aquagym Challenge in Christchurch at the weekend.

Salomonsson, 15, surpassed the previous national record of 55.88sec to secure the 15 years age group record.

He also re-broke the Otago age group record of 56.14sec he set in August.

It does not stop there.

Salomonsson showed his strength across multiple stokes and equalled Courtland Ellis’ age group record, set in 2015, in the 50m freestyle with his time of 24.42sec. He also won his age group in the 100m breaststroke, 100m freestyle and 50m breaststroke across the weekend.

It is the latest in a string of outstanding results for the rising Otago swimmer, who has a bright future in the sport as he continues to break records.

In August, Salomonsson won gold in the 100m freestyle at the national short course championships, where he crushed a nine-year Otago age group record by more than 1sec.

At the same event, he won silver in the 200m butterfly, where he broke his own Otago age group record by nearly 2.5sec.

The Kiwi club will host its long-course challenge on October 27 ahead of the Otago long-course championships on December 7 and 8.
