Numbers have grown fourfold since the event began four years ago.
Sports director Des Smith said competitors came from more than 20 schools all over Otago and there were a few from Southland schools.
''The growing popularity of the event just underlines the evolution of multisport. Kids know this is a great event and they just love competing in it.''
About 50 young athletes competed as individuals and the remainder were in teams.
Two separate events were staged at the same time.
