Doyle (17), a pupil at Kavanagh College, is a member of the Waves club, which has contracted Talbot to coach its swimmers and coaches.
At the national age group swimming championships in Wellington, Doyle won a silver medal in the 800m and bronze in the 400m freestyle.
At the New Zealand surf life-saving championships in Mount Maunganui, Doyle won a gold medal in the under-19 tube rescue with fellow Waves swimmer Jordyn Fogarty.
The pair, joined by Jessie Schneiders and Hannah Cullen, won a silver medal in the under-19 surf teams race.
They are all members of the St Clair Surf Lifesaving Club, which sent 17 swimmers to the surf championships and came home with two gold and two silver medals.
Adam Simpson won a silver medal in the men's under-19 surf race.
The other gold medal was won by Angus Mackenzie, a pupil at Otago Boys', in the under-16 surf ski race.
