Leading trainers Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen will attempt to win their seventh Kindergarten Stakes in eight years at Wyndham today.

The All Stars stable have the two favourites for the group 3 mile (1609m) feature in Delightful Dude and First Class.

First Class brings the best exposed form into today’s race following his hard-fought second behind leading 2yr-old Krug in last month’s Sapling Stakes.

The Bettor’s Delight colt, who will be driven by Tim Williams, made a brilliant beginning to lead early at Ashburton before trailing the winner throughout.

All Stars stable manager Hayden Cullen is expecting First Class to begin just as well again today.

"First Class had the pace to be up there on the wet at Ashburton, so he would probably look at going forward," Cullen said.

The second of First Class was made to look even better last weekend when Krug went on to easily win the group 1 Cardigan Bay at Alexandra Park.

Delightful Dude will have his first start in the Kindergarten Stakes after winning two of three trials.

In the latest of those, he beat stablemate Nevada, who produced a sound fourth in the Sapling Stakes.

Delightful Dude clearly lacks experience heading in today’s feature, but he will not be giving away a class edge to stablemate First Class.

"Delightful Dude is a smart little horse but he has a bit to learn when it comes to race experience," Cullen said.

"But, I could see him trailing up First Class perhaps or getting a sit behind him and if he does he can come home strong."

Leading reinsman Blair Orange will drive Delightful Dude today.

First Class has been rated the $1.80 fixed-odds favourite ahead of Delightful Dude ($2.50).

Westwood Beach first starter American Lightning has been the third favourite at $9, ahead of Sapling Stakes third placegetter Boyzhavtime ($17).
