Morrinsville horsewoman Alecia Harrison was crowned the New Zealand Junior Driver Championship winner at Addington last night.

She quinellaed the third heat of the series with main rival and North Island team-mate Benjamin Butcher behind Pat Campbell.

There were 10 points between Harrison and Butcher going into the final heat of the four-heat series.

Harrison could manage only eighth in the final race with Aveross Brachole, while Butcher was second again with Mordecai.

The result was enough to enable Harrison to hold her lead and seal her win in the championship.

The North Island beat the South Island in the team section of the series.Heat two of the South Of The Waitaki Series at Addington was won by James Butt.

The Kirk Larsen-trained pacer came with a swooping finish to beat Whata Razzle Dazzle and Cast A Shadow.
