Footage of the Stephen Ramsay and Julia Richie-trained filly made its way all around the internet after she spectacularly hurdled the running rail and sent rider Samantha Collett crashing to the track in a sickening sight two starts ago at Hastings.
Collett fortunately emerged unharmed from the incident, and Naval Fleet recovered quickly to win her next start.
Her backers are unlikely to see anything quite as spectacular at Wingatui tomorrow, as Naval Fleet is usually a very quiet and unassuming filly.
"She is a pretty unassuming little filly, she takes everything in her stride," Richie said.
"She flew down at midnight on Monday and she got there in the earlier hours of Tuesday morning.
"Our foreman, Mark Humphries, is down there and he said she is terrific."
Naval Fleet has had two starts since crashing out of her Hastings event.
Both have been on right-handed tracks.
She cruised to an impressive win at Te Aroha before running third to Tiger Silk and New Zealand Derby contender, The Chosen One, at Counties.
Naval Fleet brings more form around some of the country's best 3yr-old's to tomorrow's 1400m listed feature.
"She has showed plenty of ability - she has been beaten by some nice horses," Richie said.
"She has been beaten by Surely Sacred and In A Twinkling, the form around her has been really strong."
Riccarton filly Emily Margaret already has a listed win to her name and will aim for a second in tomorrow's race.
She warmed up with a race on her home track early last month after failing in the Desert Gold Stakes at Trentham.
The Kevin and Pam Hughes-trained filly duelled for the lead and faded in the straight.
She showed she had bounced back from that defeat with her second placing in a graded race at Riccarton.
"She got murdered at Wellington with Lisa [Allpress] and Sam Collett going head-to-head," Kevin Hughes said.
"Next time she came out I said to Sanu [Toolooa, jockey] just to settle her.
"It was a good run and it was good to get that one under her belt and hopefully it should have her back where she should be again."
Bookmakers made Emily Margaret the $6 third-favourite for tomorrow's feature behind $4.80 second favourite, Naval Fleet.
Tee Cee Coup headed the field as the $3.80 favourite.
The Michael and Matthew Pitman-trained filly will test herself in listed company for the first time tomorrow.
She has impressed with two wins and a second placing in her three starts this season.
$9 chances Dreamtesta and Superstatic were the only two other horses in single figures on market opening.
Dreamtesta will start for the first time since her second in the Gore Guineas in January.
