Racing: Bartowski set for bold bid first up

The consistent Bartowski is set for a bold bid fresh up at Oamaru tomorrow after two trials wins in recent weeks.

The Gerard O'Reilly-trained pacer has finished further back than fourth once in 13 starts.

He began racing 12 months ago and cleared maiden ranks at Oamaru in August after minor placings in his first five starts.

The Barnett Hanover-Divine Lavra 4yr-old was put aside after he finished eighth at Addington in March.

He has won trials at Ashburton (May 13) and Addington (Monday) in a fresh preparation.

El Magic, a dual winner at Forbury Park this month, is among the rivals for Bartowski.

She has won five of her 13 starts since joining the stable of Foxton trainer Peter Scaife in September.

She will be driven by Dexter Dunn in the absence of stable reinsman Zac Butcher.

• Zelda Jordan has been appointed acting general manager of the Forbury Park Trotting Club.

Paul Knowles was dismissed as general manager two weeks ago. No reason was given.

Jordan has been office administrator of the Forbury Park club for the past 12 months.

Bruce Trainor, vice-president of the club and a member of the board of management, will work with Jordan to analyse current systems and processes and make recommendations as to the future management structure of the club.

Details of the appointment were conveyed to the committee of the club by Stephen Cairns, chairman of the board of management and Peter Gillespie, the president of the club.

• Alta Christiano, the talented 2yr-old pacer, has been sold to clients of the Perth stable of Gary Hall.

Trainer Paul Kerr confirmed the sale but says the son of Christian Cullen will remain in his care until at least next year.

His present owners will retain a share.

His next campaign, which will be based around the Sires' Stakes series, culminates at Addington on New Zealand Cup day before he moves north for the Sales Series Pace at Alexandra Park.
